OK, I have been working on this idea for collecting information on web conferencing and there it is a new start-up. The website wecoon.net is going to be dedicated to web conferencing. Let's see how this will work out.

Is teleconferencing different in different cultures or is the same as discussing with somebody from another culture in real life. Does teleconferencing give you more obsatacles to overcome or is it actually easier because you do not see everything. Will you trust a person to the same extent or is it a sliding scale from a regular telephone call up to meeting somebody in real life? I guess it is the latter. Teleconferencing gives you more opportunities than a telephone call, but less than meeting somebody for real.

What about the concept of teleconferencing in prison. One could arrange a teleconference with inmates and thus there would be no need to visit the inmates or travel to distant countries where these people are locked away. Simple teleconference equipment would make it easy to see your beloved behind bars. Visiting hours could be extended to 24 hours.

Web conferencing

One of the great new applications on the web is the use of web conferencing. By inviting people through a conference call you can arrange for teleconferencing. Saves a million in travel costs and it can be arranged in a day or so. We did it a couple of times and it works very well. Especially those where you include the possibility of showing faces. Real-time is not really working well yet, but at least you can see facial expressions and thus communicate very efficiently.
